Energy and natural resources software

Give field teams and the office a clearer view of operations.

Work in the field cannot wait for someone to piece together forms, alarms and access records back at the office. We build mobile and web software around the people, equipment and decisions that keep operations moving.

For energy, mining, utilities and natural-resource operations teams.

The everyday friction

Where work gets harder than it needs to be.

01

Field information arrives too late.

Inspections, site updates and equipment notes lose value when they remain on paper or in someone’s inbox until the end of a shift.

02

An alarm needs context before action.

Operators need to know what changed, where it happened and what has already been tried without searching through several screens.

03

Remote work meets unreliable service.

A field workflow has to explain what is saved, what is still sending and what happens when the connection returns.

Relevant experience

Real work. A useful starting point.

Essential Designs project

Teck Resources

We built a responsive web-based EHSC application for mine-site vendor management. The platform supports contractor safety forms, review and approval, distinct roles and permissions, and staff control over entry and access privileges.

  • Digital contractor safety forms
  • Roles and permission levels
  • Review, approval and site-access controls

Emerson Electric

Our Emerson Electric case study describes a mobile modernization project for field operators, covering performance, alarm handling, dashboards, reporting and operation in remote or low-connectivity environments.

  • Field alarms and sensor information
  • Customizable dashboards and reports
  • Proposed low-data and offline-friendly workflows

What we can build together

Software shaped around your team's work.

Choose the parts that matter to your business. We will work through the details, existing systems and practical limits with you.

Talk through your priorities ↗
01

Field data and inspections

Capture the site, asset, reading, notes and supporting photos in a practical mobile flow. Make required details and incomplete records easy to see.

02

Alarms and exception handling

Bring alerts, related readings, responsibility and follow-up into one sequence so the team can understand the current state and record the response.

03

Vendor roles and site access

Plan contractor records, forms, permissions and access decisions around the roles used at each site and the people authorized to approve them.

04

Reporting and system connections

Define the dashboards, exports and history each team needs. Assess connections to sensor, asset, identity and business systems using their documented access.

A practical first step

Start with what your team needs most.

  1. 1

    Walk through a field event

Use a real inspection, alarm or access request to show what happens in the field and at the office. Include a poor connection and an exception that needs review.

  2. 2

    Define sources and responsibility

Agree which system owns each record, who can change it and what history must remain visible. Identify site, safety and security reviewers before design is approved.

  3. 3

    Test where the work happens

Pilot on the devices, networks and operating conditions the team actually uses. Verify saved work, resubmission, permissions and the office handoff before wider rollout.

Before you get started

A few questions you may have.

Can a field app work with a weak or missing connection?

It can be designed for low-connectivity work, but the rules need to be explicit. We define what can be stored, how conflicts are handled, what the user sees while an update is pending and how the system recovers.

Can you connect to our sensor, asset or operations systems?

We can investigate supported APIs, data formats, permissions and test access. The plan depends on the vendor and the operational fallback required when a connection is unavailable.

How do safety and access requirements fit into the project?

Your operations, safety and security stakeholders define the applicable requirements and approval rules. We turn those decisions into roles, workflow states, records and test scenarios.

Can we modernize one workflow without replacing everything?

Yes, when ownership and handoffs are clear. We can scope a field or review workflow around systems that remain in use, then plan migration only where it creates enough value.
